Match Preview: Weston-super-Mare V Salisbury

Match Preview: Weston-super-Mare V Salisbury.

Salisbury return to action tomorrow evening (February 11th) with a trip to Weston-super-Mare, who are just outside the play-off places.

Scott Bartlett’s side has found their way back after a string of games at the end of 2024 and the beginning of this year saw them fall from first to ninth place. Weston has three wins, one tie, and one loss in their previous five games, totalling ten points. In contrast, they had only two points from their previous five games, with two draws and three defeats. On Saturday, they hampered Boreham Wood’s league title hopes. Ollie Chamberlin’s first-half goal was enough to earn The Seagulls all three points. It was a goal, where Boreham’s ‘keeper could and should have done better with, as it trickled through his legs.

Salisbury came into the game after losing their unbeaten run to table-toppers Dorking Wanderers. Alfie Rutherford’s two first-half goals were decisive in a game in which Salisbury barely attacked Dorking’s goal. The league’s unbeaten streak had lasted since December, with five draws and two wins, resulting in the same number of points for Salisbury and Weston over the last ten games, 12 each.

When the sides played earlier this season, The Seagulls won thanks to a James Hillson own goal and a second from Kieran Thomas. However, the game was not without controversy, as Ruben Reid was caught offside when he challenged Hillson for the opening goal.
