Andrew Nestor loves what Tony Brown did after West Brom winner v Sheffield Wednesday

Andrew Nestor loves what Tony Brown did after West Brom winner v Sheffield Wednesday.

Tony Brown was happy after Jayson Molumby scored a late winner for West Brom in their 2-1 Championship victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, and Andrew Nestor was equally pleased.

On February 8, Tony Mowbray’s side defeated the Owls in a thrilling Championship match at The Hawthorns. Callum Patterson equalised for Wednesday in extra time, much to Adam Armstrong’s dismay, as he had expected to score the winner for Albion on his debut. Molumby glanced a low cross from a corner into the back of the net, giving the Baggies the victory, albeit Kyle Bartley was later sent off.

Tony Brown goes berserk live on air

Molumby drew the entire Hawthorns crowd out of their seats as he reeled away in excitement after scoring the winner, pulling his shirt off and yelling at the fans. Meanwhile, Brown, who was on commentary duty with Steve Hermon on BBC Radio WM, couldn’t contain his joy, shouting and screaming as the ball went into the net. He’s getting arrested for taking off his shirt, but does he care? Do any of these Albions care? “No!” he said live on air. Hermon subsequently tweeted a film of Bomber’s best moments from Saturday’s game on X, prompting Nestor to comment. “I love it,” the sporting director commented on X (8 February).

Andrew Nestor, a pleased man at West Brom

West Brom fans will still be bouncing, reflecting on Saturday’s outcome and the manner in which it was achieved. Meanwhile, Nestor will be delighted with himself when Armstrong scored the opener for Mowbray’s side against Sheffield Wednesday. Nestor’s first full transfer window as sporting director resulted in Albion signing four players, including Armstrong. Apart from the Southampton loanee, Isaac Price was picked to the starting lineup against the Owls, with Will Lankshear coming off the bench. Tammer Bany was the lone winter acquisition who did not appear in the thrilling triumph, but he will soon make his Baggies debut.

Meanwhile, it was great to hear Brown shout at the top of his lungs live on television as Molumby won at The Hawthorns. One can only hope that Mowbray and co. can produce more of these moments between now and the end of the season.
