What Arsenal legend Aaron Ramsey did to Stoke City fans after ‘not nice’ treatment during FA Cup tie

Overall, Aaron Ramsey made 369 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 64 goals and supplying 60 assists under both Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery.

Ramsey left Arsenal for Juventus in 2019, shortly before Mikel Arteta took over as manager. The pair had a great playing relationship.

Of course, at 34 years old, Ramsey is still playing for his hometown club Cardiff City in the Championship, where he has made just five appearances this season.

Ramsey has been sidelined by a hamstring injury this season, but he was fit to play in Cardiff’s FA Cup clash on Saturday.

Cardiff faced Stoke City away from home, and Ramsey sat deep in midfield with the captain’s armband.

Unfortunately, the home crowd booed Ramsey practically every time he touched the ball.

Stoke City fans boo Aaron Ramsey during FA Cup tie

Stoke fans have booed Ramsey since he returned from a catastrophic leg break sustained at their stadium in 2010, when he was hurt by a Ryan Shawcross challenge.

Cardiff manager Omer Riza called the behaviour as ‘not pleasant’ after Saturday’s game, despite Ramsey’s eventual victory.

Riza stated, “I was very astonished by that and disappointed for Aaron since it is not nice.

“But he has a strong enough character to handle it. He has many people that care about him and love him.

“So a bit of booing at Stoke will only push him to be better.”

At the end of the game, Ramsey took advantage of the opportunity to repay the Stoke fans.

The former Arsenal player walked past the home fans, giving them a good wave and some fist-pumps after Cardiff won on penalties, knocking Stoke out of the FA Cup.

Arsenal have already found their next Aaron Ramsey

Of course, Arsenal would benefit from having a player like Ramsey in his peak in N5 right now.

The Welshman had a propensity for scoring vital goals from midfield and had enjoyed some FA Cup success with the Gunners as well.

Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla believes they have found the next Ramsey, who is evolving into an offensive player.

In any case, while Arsenal is in Dubai reflecting on their season, Ramsey has given north London fans something to grin about.

A true Arsenal icon, who appears to still have something left in the tank.
