FORREST FIRED-UP: ‘A FANTASTIC PLAYER’

With the holders trailing Livingston 2-2 in the Scottish Cup quarterfinal at Parkhead on Sunday, the 32-year-old Scotland international was brought on late.

As extra time approached, Daizen Maeda scored his hat-trick in the 86th minute, and Forrest helped secure the victory with a header into Kyogo Furuhashi’s path for the fourth goal. The 4-2 victory secured a semi-final meeting with Aberdeen at Hampden next month.

The one-club man had previously played for the champions in a 2-0 home victory over Premiership struggling outfit on December 23. He had entered the game in the 63rd minute in place of Daizen Maeda.

Although his management hasn’t employed the highly decorated Forrest much, he still thinks highly of the stand-out stand-in’s abilities.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Rodgers continued, saying, “Unfortunately, aging catches up with any player—or person, for that matter.

However, he is still capable of adding something to the game. That lasted for twenty-five minutes on Sunday. You can see how good he is when our attacks are sustained and perhaps there aren’t as many running backs.

HOOP HOOP HOORAY In McDiarmid Park, James Forrest is having a party.

“He’s an amazing player, and watching how he worked and kept the ball was enjoyable.”

On December 3, 2018, Forrest scored a goal at McDiarmid Park against St Johnstone after entering the game as a late substitution.

The 3-1 victory was secured when the touchline ace rushed off to tuck in the game-winning third goal. On Saturday afternoon at Parkhead, when the Perth team provides the opposition, he might get the chance to stage an action replay.
