Rangers executives are battling to reach an agreement on a contract that Clement personally lobbied for.
Philippe Clement has clarified his position on the future of a “magnificent” Rangers player.
The Gers have a number of players who will be out of contract at Ibrox at the end of the season, so much of the attention will be on either extending their contracts or moving them on.
Rangers midfielder John Lundstram’s contract is about to expire, although he is “very keen” to prolong his stay. According to the update, a deal might be made within the “coming weeks”.
Kemar Roofe is in the similar predicament as Lundstram, but the difference is that the Gers are apparently content to have him come in and depart for free this summer, replacing him with an improvement. An “A-List” attacker is being considered as a replacement ahead of what will be a crucial summer transfer period.
Aside from those players who will be out of contract shortly, there are numerous loanees whose temporary transfers may turn permanent after impressing in their short time at Ibrox.
Abdallah Sima has scored 10 goals in 15 starts in the Scottish Premiership this season. Brighton is prepared to sell him for £10-15 million in the summer, perhaps breaking the Gers’ record transfer cost of £12 million for Tore Andre Flo at the beginning of the century.
Fabio Silva, a loanee from Wolves, might be a permanent signing at the conclusion of the season, but it’s unclear if he and Sima will join.
Twist about “magnificent” Rangers ace’s future
According to a recent update from Football Insider, Lundstram’s discussions with Rangers about a new agreement have now “stalled”, representing a fresh twist. Clement is “personally pushing” for the transfer to go through, obviously ranking the Englishman as a player and considering him as a “integral part of the first-team squad”.
The source goes on to say that Lundstram “now wants to weigh his options before committing to a new contract, with the Liverpool-born star expecting multiple offers in the summer.”
Rangers are in a difficult situation with the former Sheffield United star this summer, since he is already 30 years old and will expect huge earnings in a new contract. That might be a concern because he may slip beyond his peak in the near future.

Lundstram is treasured by Clement and considered “magnificent” by Andy Walker. With 62 Premier League outings under his belt, he has extensive experience and is expected to continue performing well in the future.
The final choice is up to Rangers’ owners, but if Clement wants an extension, the manager must be trusted in his judgment given what he has demonstrated thus far in Glasgow.
