Sunderland next manager favourite hails Newcastle boss Eddie Howe as an inspiration

After dismissing Michael Beale last month, Sunderland has been operating without a permanent manager since Mike Dodds was appointed interim manager.

Dodds has had trouble connecting with the Black Cats, and it doesn’t seem likely that he will be able to continue in the role for very long.

The North East team dropped to 12th place in the standings, 11 points outside of the play-offs, after dropping six straight games.

The emphasis now shifts to preparation for the upcoming season, with little chance of promotion to the Premier League left for this one.

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, the chairman of Sunderland, has been keeping a watch on William Still, the manager of Reims, as the club’s potential new manager.

There is no coach better than another. I think there are different ideas throughout the world of football that we can learn from.” Still, who turned 31 in October, has impressed in Ligue 1 during his brief career on the touchline and is viewed as the ideal man. However, given the Newcastle rivalry, this claim may be seen as somewhat controversial.
The response will undoubtedly not please Sunderland supporters, but in any case, he appears to be their clear favorite to take over as manager at the Stadium of Light.

Will Still will have to wait for Sunderland.
Sunderland’s season has entirely collapsed in the last several weeks due to a terrible run of performance that has kept them well outside of the play-off spots.

Therefore, it’s possible that they are no longer as eager to find a permanent manager as they once were, as their appointment appears to be scheduled for the summer.

Still has previously expressed interest in the Sunderland position, saying he would oversee a Championship team; however, any future appointment is unlikely to start until the end of the current campaign.

The Belgian-born head coach has Reims in ninth and in with an outside chance of securing a European spot, so any suggestion that he may exit the French outfit at this stage of the campaign seems far-fetched.
