Man Utd must sign €25m Everton starlet after successful Old Trafford audition

Jarrad Branthwaite, a transfer target for Manchester United, played admirably in Everton’s 2-0 Premier League loss at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Against Man United, Branthwaite began the game for the Toffees as a left center-back. The 21-year-old made two tackles and prevailed in five of his six duels.

In an attempt to prevent Kobbie Mainoo from having a clear chance to score a goal, he issued a tough challenge. During the move, the offside flag was raised, but Branthwaite performed his duties.

Although he fouled Marcus Rashford inside the area at the last second, the offside flag spared him.

Branthwaite, who shone with Everton this season, spent the 2022–2023 season on loan with PSV Eindhoven.

It is no secret that Man United want to bolster their defence in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Real Madrid is a formidable rival in the hunt to recruit the Everton young player, but the Red Devils are supposedly in the lead.

This season, injuries have exposed United’s defence. Lisandro Martinez’s chronic ailment has limited his playing time to just ten appearances.

Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, and others have all been sidelined. The future is questionable for all four guys.

Branthwaite’s signing would provide United’s defensive options the much-needed depth they require. Branthwaite might be one of the statement signings that INEOS, the new co-owners, are eager to make.

They have to be cautious about Everton’s asking price, though. Branthwaite is valued at €25 million by Transfermarkt.com, but Everton may want a higher sum to approve a transfer.

United has been guilty of overspending in the recent transfer windows on its top targets. INEOS needs to buck the trend and resume its recruitment efforts.
