Middlesbrough were keen on Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton in the final hours of the transfer window, but they were priced out of a move for the 22-year-old.

As Michael Carrick attempted to bolster his squad for the run-in, Boro were monitoring Morton and pondering a £10 million approach, according to reporter Paul Joyce. Morton, a midfielder who is constantly on the lookout for the ball, is frequently seen dropping deep to receive it from his central defenders before turning away from pressure and going through the midfield lines. Because of this, he would fit right in with Carrick’s ball-dominant team. However, Morton received no offers, despite strong interest in him in the summer from Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and Atalanta. Boro were racing against the clock to complete this by 11 p.m., and journalist Dominic Shaw reported that there was a valuation disparity between the two teams. Nizaar Kinsella provided further updates, confirming that an agreement could not be reached.

The verdict on Tyler Morton amid Middlesbrough interest

Jasper Hudson, FLW’s Middlesbrough fan commentator, has responded to transfer speculation and endorsed Boro’s decision not to pursue a deal at Liverpool’s asking price. He explained, “The Tyler Morton transaction came out of nowhere. “There was no previous conjecture or links. There were certainly rumors that Dan Barlaser would go earlier, freeing up a slot for another midfielder. I believe we were waiting for the Emmanuel Latte Lath money to be confirmed and processed before making a bid. “I do not believe it was one that we snatched. I believe there would have been some indication that if Latte Lath left, this is where part of the money may go. Or, if Barlaser leaves, he might be replaced. £10 million is clearly a large cost, but the expectation is that you will get a strong player for it. “Obviously, there are whispers among Liverpool fans that there isn’t much space for him at the club right now. He needed to move away, and it appears that it did not work out for him. But, as a supporter, I’m not disappointed that we didn’t get a midfielder in. “We still have Barlaser. Yes, he isn’t at the level we want, but as long as Hackney and Morris can play, that’s a solid midfield. Hopefully, Jonny Howson will return from his injury soon. “It would have been good to bring in another midfielder, but we decided to bring in forwards and basically spend our entire window bringing in attackers. It would have been fantastic to close a deal, but £10 million is a lot of money. “And there was no guarantee from the player.” I believe a loan with the option to buy would have been a better bargain given his lack of senior football experience. There’s a lot of money involved for a player who doesn’t have that experience.”

Tyler Morton would be a good addition to any Championship side

Despite his young age, Morton has already performed admirably in the Championship over the last two seasons, with Blackburn and Hull fans praising his efforts. At his age, he is someone who can improve and reach his full potential in the future, especially because the Liverpool kid is wasting time at Anfield and has to secure a loan or permanent move as soon as feasible. The 22-year-old has already made 79 Championship matches and made his Premier League and Champions League debuts for Liverpool. However, he needs a move this summer, and Boro may be interested again. However, this may be determined by the future of Hackney at The Riverside.
