Before their hosts move into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock for the upcoming season, this will be AFC
Bournemouth’s last trip to Goodison Park.
The Daily Echo previews the cup match on Saturday.
As players start to recover from his team’s injury issue, Andoni Iraola will be hoping to have more options from his
squad in the upcoming weeks.
Last weekend, Luis Sinisterra was supposed to be evaluated to see if he would play against Liverpool. He did not
make the team, but he should be available following a full week of training.
Only Tavernier and Sinisterra are probably going to be able to make the trip to Merseyside, however it is
anticipated that all four will return before the end of the month.
Players like Ben Winterburn and Will Dennis might start if the Basque manager decides to rest a few of his regular
starters.
Orel Mangala, Armando Broja, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dwight McNeil, and Youssef Chermiti are all out for
Everton.
Seamus Coleman is a doubt for the visit of the Cherries.
Head-to-Head
It is just over a month since the Toffees made the trip to the south coast at the beginning of January.
Iraola’s men beat their visitors 1-0, thanks to a David Brooks winner with 13 minutes to play, in what would prove
to be Sean Dyche’s last game in charge of Everton.
Antoine Semenyo, Lewis Cook and Sinisterra were the scorers after what had been a below-par performance from
Iraola’s side for much of the game.
In total, the Cherries have won seven of the last nine games against the Toffees after completing the league double
this season.
Last Time Out
The Cherries’ fantastic 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions came to an end at the hands of league leaders
Liverpool, with a Mo Salah brace proving the difference in a 2-0 defeat to the Reds.
But it was a good performance in defeat from Bournemouth, and they’ll take confidence from the previous 11-game
run in the league and the 5-1 win over West Brom in the third round of the cup in January.
The 1-0 win over Everton was a part of that run, as Iraola’s side beat Wolves, Tottenham, Ipswich, Manchester
United, the Toffees, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in the streak.
Iraola’s side will be aiming to return to winning ways at the first time of asking.
His return to the club was greeted with a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, but since Everton have beaten Tottenham,
Brighton and most recently Leicester.
Under interim managers Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman, they advanced to the cup’s fourth round with a 2-
0 victory over Peterborough.
On Saturday, February 8, AFC Bournemouth will visit Goodison Park. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
