Nottingham Forest are said to be keeping tabs on Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as they look ahead to
the summer transfer window. The winter deadline may have only just passed but the Reds will already have one
eye on potential business for the end of the season. By then, they will hope to be planning for European football as
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side continue to hold their own at the top end of the Premier League table. Recruiting a
forward has been on the agenda for Forest for the past two windows. A number of prospective targets have been
looked at, with Brentford’s Yoane Wissa the subject of an unsuccessful bid in January.
As the winter transfer window approaches, Nottingham Forest is reportedly keeping an eye on Crystal Palace
striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. By the end of the season, the Reds will hope to be preparing for European football as
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team continues to hold their own at the top of the Premier League table. During the
previous two windows, Forest has been looking to add a forward, and a number of potential targets have been
considered, including Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who was the target of an unsuccessful bid in January.
The Reds made just one senior acquisition prior to Monday’s deadline, aside from re-signing goalkeeper Wayne
Hennessey on a temporary contract through the end of the season.Tyler Bindon, a young defender, signed a
permanent contract with Reading but was promptly loaned back to the Royals.
Taiwo Awoniyi and top scorer Chris Wood will have to lead Forest through the next 14 league games without a
forward.Nuno, the club’s head coach, was eager to avoid making arbitrary additions because he didn’t want to
upset the status quo at a time when his side was performing so well. In the summer, when the market is more
favorable for operations, the Reds will evaluate the up front.
