Everton in ‘big trouble’ after ‘comic book stuff’ in 2-0 loss v Man United

Everton are in “big trouble” after their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Journalist Simon Stone of BBC Sport claims that the Toffees finished second on Saturday, March 9.

Due to the loss, which included penalties from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, the Goodison Park team is now 16th in the standings.

For BBC Sport on March 9, Stone wrote, “At one point substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin rose to meet a header on the edge of the six-yard box, only to send it straight back across goal.”

Lewis Dobbin responded by attempting to score as well, but he was unable to do so and the ball returned to its original position. Andre Onana was not used in either scenario.

“It was comic book stuff but it is no laughing matter for Everton, who are in big trouble on the pitch, let alone off it.”

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United hasn’t been flawless this season, so the Toffees had a chance to at least secure a point in this game.

However, the hosts played with professionalism to defeat Sean Dyche’s team, who missed numerous opportunities while playing on the road.

The travelling manager will be furious with his players’ lack of composure as well as the defensive tandem of James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey for giving up penalties for fouls committed against Alejandro Garnacho.

Sadly, the Merseyside team will now have to wait until the end of the month to recover from yet another setback; on March 30, the Toffees will travel to Bournemouth.

On the plus side, Dyche will have plenty of time to work with his players on the training pitch as he attempts to improve team standards.
