Driver on cocaine among five Watford-area motorists taken to court

A motorist has been banned after admitting to driving while under the influence of ketamine and cocaine in St Albans.

Benjamin Grant, of Little Oxhey Lane in Watford, was banned from driving for 29 months after pleaded guilty to the charge at St Albans Magistrates’ Court last month.

The punishment was handed out on Thursday (January 23) at the same court, and it includes six months of non-residential rehabilitation and 150 hours of unpaid work over the next year.
According to court documents, the 22-year-old drove a BMW in St Albans on July 4, 2024, while high on ketamine and benzoylecgonine (a key component of cocaine).
Grant has also been ordered to pay costs of £199, which include a £114 surcharge and an £85 payment to the Crown Prosecution Service. This amount must be paid within 28 days of the order being placed.

According to the documents, his guilty plea was considered at sentencing.
