Rangers transfer news: BBC Sport pundit tips ‘hefty fee’ windfall for Ridvan Yilmaz summer exit

Rangers transfer news: BBC Sport commentator predicts ‘hefty fee’ windfall for Ridvan Yilmaz’s summer departure.

According to Kenny Miller, if Ridvan Yilmaz leaves in the summer, Rangers may be able to recoup their “hefty fee” from him.

According to a BBC Sport analyst on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on March 8, the Turkish defender has recovered from a potential departure in January. He is expected to be a long-term starter or fetch a high price in the summer following a successful season.

Journalist Roger Hannah indicated Borna Barisic may be on his way out as well, but predicted January target Jefte to come in and perhaps displace Yilmaz as the first-choice under Philippe Clement, despite his strong form.

Hannah stated (31m 25s): “It appeared that he was going to Hellas Verona to replace Josh Doig.” It appeared like Jefte, the Brazilian from Cyprus, was going to enter. That agreement fell through due to problems between his parent club and his loan club. Rangers could try to rekindle their bid in the summer.

“You wonder whether Borna Barisic would depart in the summer, if Jefte will be his first option, and what this means for Yilmaz. “But the way he’s been playing lately, he’s not done himself any harm… for the rest of the season, he’s established himself as first choice, and you wonder if he’s done enough to really breathe life into his Rangers career.”

Miller continued, “It’s taken him some time to adjust because it appeared he’d be departing in January. There are two items there.

“He’s either going to be the number one left-back when Barisic leaves… or in the summer that transfer value could have driven up because he’s performing to such a high level at this moment, domestically and in Europe, if anybody is looking at him then Rangers might get that transfer fee back that they did there, which was quite a hefty fee at the time.”
