Watford resist Bundesliga transfer interest in attacker
Under Tom Cleverley, the Hornets have had a successful season thus far, but three straight losses have put them to 12th position in the standings, four points off of the play-off spots.
Team | P | GD | Pts | |
11 | Coventry City | 30 | 3 | 41 |
12 | Watford | 30 | -2 | 41 |
13 | Millwall | 30 | 3 | 40 |
A top six finish will be the goal despite the recent run, and Cleverley is aware that he needs to retain his best players to achieve that.
The Championship team informed Wolfsburg that Baah is not for sale after they made a proposal for the 22-year-old, according to reporter Fabrizio Romano, which was excellent news on that front.
After Kwadwo Baah scored five goals and provided three assists in 29 appearances this season, Wolfsburg had contacted Watford about him. The Hornets believe Baah cannot be transferred, hence the plan has been turned down.
After joining from Rochdale in 2021 and spending time on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Burton Albion, Baah has had a breakthrough season at Vicarage Road.
Given that Wolfsburg is playing well in the Bundesliga and would likely think they can finish in the European spots this season, the opportunity to move there would have undoubtedly appealed to Baah.
However, Watford felt that a sale on Deadline Day would have been completely illogical, and considering his injury history, it was unexpected that Wolfsburg was interested.
