Exclusive: Celtic’s new Mathias Kvistgaarden plan revealed

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Celtic will make another attempt to sign Brondby star Mathias Kvistgaarden during the summer transfer window.

Last week, Kyogo Furuhashi was shockingly sold to Stade Rennais, but he wasn’t replaced before the deadline of February 3.

After considering their top targets, the Hoops tried to lure Kvistgaarden to Parkhead, but Brondby priced them out of a late-window bid.

Celtic supporters have criticized the team for not replacing Furuhashi, although it is thought that the team did not want to overspend in a panic.

For the rest of the 2024–25 season, they will rely on Adam Idah to lead the line, while Jota’s arrival will provide more goals to the front line.

According to sources, the Glasgow giants will have a “big summer ahead” as they want to advance following their Champions League triumph this season.

If they wish to replicate their success this season, they will have to negotiate the competition’s qualifying rounds.

Brendan Rodgers and his transfer chiefs had named Kvistgaarden as their top pick to replace Furuhashi, but Celtic refused to match his asking price during the midseason transfer window.

In 22 games this season across all competitions, he has scored 14 goals and provided five assists for Brondby.

The contract for the Denmark Under-21 player expires in June 2027.

In other news, an analyst says there was “something bigger behind Celtic’s Kyogo sale.”
