Banel’s 20-year-old contract with the Amsterdam club was set to expire at the end of June. He had a few appearances for the first team last season but has since disappeared. The attacker appeared in 15 Keuken Kampioen Divisie matches for Jong Ajax. Banel has signed with Burnley, who are third in the Championship. His contract continues through mid-2029.
“Despite his development, his chances of playing for Ajax’s first team were limited,” says Marijn Beuker, Ajax’s director of football. “This transfer allows him to grow further in a new setting. We have congratulated Jaydon for his work and wish him well in England.”
On Monday evening, Ajax and Brondby IF agreed to transfer Benjamin Tahirović to the Danish club. The 21-year-old midfielder was connected with a move to Championship club Oxford United, as well as Serie A teams Torino and Udinese.
However, Denmark was chosen as the preferred destination, and he signed a contract that will last until June 30, 2028. Brondby presently ranks fifth in the Danish Superliga.
