Rangers eye move for midfield goal-threat linked to Leicester

According to HITC, Rangers are thinking about making a move for highly sought-after midfield star Matthias Seidl before the summer transfer window opens.

The publication said on their website on March 7 that the Light Blues, along with colleague Leopold Querfeld, had been keeping an eye on the Austrian international due to his impressive performances for the Austrian Bundesliga squad.

The 23-year-old recently transferred to the Allianz Stadion in the summer following an amazing run at FC Blau-Weiß Linz to win the second division championship. But because of his play this season, he has been awarded three full caps for his country and various British teams are taking an interest in him.

Old Firm rivals Celtic, as well as a group of English teams including Leicester, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Wolves, and Burnley, will be joining the Light Blues. Seidl has already tallied nine goals and provided six assists in all competitions this season.

Rangers are searching for an Austrian international midfielder that Crystal Palace and Leicester are interested in signing.

When everyone is healthy, the Gers have a number of formidable options. Tom Lawrence and Todd Cantwell are both at ease in the central attacking midfield position, where Todd Cantwell excels.

However, both have experienced injury problems this season, as have the most of the players at Ibrox, highlighting the necessity of having excellent backup at every position.

It could be difficult to win if one or more teams make an offer for Seidl given the number of teams vying for him, especially if Premier League money is involved.

Oliver Glasner, the new manager of Crystal Palace, is an Austrian who was considered for the Rangers position prior to Philippe Clement taking over. He is rumoured to be highly keen and might be the front-runner for a deal.

It may be that interest in Seidl will have to be limited because Rangers have been connected to potential recruits further back in midfield, while the question of a striker addition like Lawrence Shankland will remain significant.
