‘Never’: Dan James in strong Leeds United promotion message, table declaration, rival warning and personal vow
Dan James, a Whites star, sent a strong message to Leeds United with a personal pledge and a Championship table statement.
The Wales international winger Manchester United was literally in top form during the Whites’ 7-0 thumping of Cardiff City over the weekend. James recorded two assists and a goal. One year after a devastating second half of the 2023–24 Championship season that resulted with a third-place finish and, eventually, a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Southampton in the play-off final, James and Leeds are men on a mission.
James was arguably United’s finest player despite entering the game as a second-half substitute during a very depressing Wembley finale, and the winger thinks his team is now adamant about reaching a completely different outcome a year later.
James promises to bring his own kind of leadership to Leeds in an attempt to elevate the Whites to the top of the Championship table, saying his team “never” wants to surrender that role.
Leeds will play Coventry City on Wednesday night to continue their pursuit of promotion; James has cautioned that this team will present a very difficult test.”I think for us, we know last season, that feeling of not going up was so frustrating and disappointing, and we don’t want that this season,” James stated in an interview with LUTV.Every game is crucial, and the manager and I talk about how we don’t want to experience that again.
“We have worked so hard to get to this point of the season to be top of the league and we don’t want to drop that.””But it’s going to be a tough game on Wednesday night against Coventry, but for me, I like the responsibility.” “We have to keep pushing, especially these home games, and we never want to lose that top spot.”
“I have never really been a loud person in the dressing room, so I don’t feel like I am now. However, I like to talk to guys, try to lead the line a little bit by getting up to it, pressing, and starting off that way, and attempt to set an example on the field.
“I kind of let the other boys handle it. I wouldn’t say that’s not who I am as a person; I am undoubtedly like that, but I’m more supportive than yelling. However, I enjoy setting an example on the field.
