Man United midfielder Ruben Curley having his medical at Stoke City ahead of permanent move

Ruben Curley, a teenage midfielder for Manchester United, is apparently travelling to Stoke City for a physical before joining the team permanently.

Although United has the option to extend Curley’s contract, it expires at the end of the current campaign.

This season, he has made seven appearances in Premier League 2 and one appearance in the EFL Trophy.

Stoke reportedly showed interest in signing Curley earlier today, but United turned them off.

Curley appeared to be set to stay at United for the remainder of the season, but the Red Devils have made a stunning U-turn, according to Football Insider’s Peter O’Rourke.

“Stoke City has revived a move for Manchester United midfielder Ruben Curley,” O’Rourke said.

“In preparation for a permanent move to the bet365 Stadium, the player is currently undergoing his medical at the club.”

“The Potters initially had an approach rejected earlier in the day, but they have since arranged tests, indicating progress toward securing the deal.”

The report notes that the fact a medical is currently taking place almost certainly suggests Stoke are pressing forward with their efforts to get a transfer over the line before the close of the winter transfer window at 11pm UK time.

Stoke are currently 18th in the Championship table and are eager to bolster their squad options to avoid the possibility of relegation.

Curley has made 41 appearances during his time in the United academy, registering three goals and four assists.

He has never lined up for the senior team.
