‘If there is pressure at Leeds, it’s a lovely pressure to have’
Steve Staunton once mocked claims that Leeds United, who were vying for promotion, were under pressure by
joking, “Pressure is for tyres.”
Staunton stated that 16 years prior, he had assisted in leading a six-game league and cup winning streak as assistant
manager, which helped the team move up to fourth place in League One. Fans had great expectations after the team’s
defeat in the previous year’s play-off final.
2024 feels a lot like 2008, even though we are in a different era and divide. The more the chosen meme, the more it
will change.
Staunton went on to say, “If there is pressure at Leeds, it is a lovely pressure to have.” “I would rather be where we
are than at a club which has no money, no support and is just hoping to stay in the division.”
Whether it is beautiful or not, I suppose it comes with the territory if certain Leeds United fans are putting undue
pressure on manager Daniel Farke following the team’s first league loss of the season, even if they dominated rivals
Burnley.
If anyone has a barometer close to the Cardiff City Stadium dugouts on Saturday, I’d like to know how much
pressure is being put on Farke and his opponent, Erol Bulut. Farke, like every other Whites manager since the team’s
heyday, must labour nonstop in an obviously difficult atmosphere. However, Bulut’s stance is absurd.
The Bluebirds have not secured a single point in the Championship and have yet to win a league game. I seem to
remember that Russell Martin of Southampton was in a similar situation a year ago, but Bulut might run out of road
before the pressure is removed for him.
Be cautious when treading.
