Rangers fans spotted in violent clashes in Lisbon as footage emerges ahead of Europa League game

Rangers fans pictured in violent fights in Lisbon as film emerges before of Europa League game.

Rangers fans have been involved in violent skirmishes in Lisbon before of their Europa League game against Benfica on Thursday (7 March), according to A Bola.

The Portuguese news site shared a video on Twitter on Thursday, showing what is reportedly the Gers fans battling with Atalanta supporters after their side played Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday (6 March).

The Scottish Sun reported that a gang of ultras from the Italian team attacked some of the Light Blues supporters outside a hotel in the Portuguese city.

Shocking scenes involving Rangers fans

These are scenes that the majority of actual football fans don’t want to see participating in the sport as it sends out the completely incorrect message.

It’s often the case when British clubs come to Europe that their fans are targeted and the reports appear to show that was the case once again in Lisbon.

While the Gers fans may have been innocent parties before they were set upon, this is not something the club will want to witness.

The attention should be on the Light Blues’ game against Benfica, but it’s conceivable that this incident could overshadow what should be a wonderful encounter in the Portuguese city.

Hopefully, there be no similar situations like this before or after the game this evening as that is definitely not what we want to see connected with our sport.
