Birmingham World is aware that Wolves is getting close to adding two big players on deadline day.
Nasser Djiga, a center-half for Red Star Belgrade and a rumored target for Nottingham Forest, is currently
traveling to England after Wolves agreed to pay £10 million for him. The eight-time Burkino Faso international
will go quickly in what will be one of Red Star’s most costly sales ever. He only paid £2.5 million to join the Serbian
Super Liga team in the summer.
After acquiring Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims for £16.6 million earlier in the transfer season, Vitor Pereira has
been keen to strengthen the defense by adding depth and talent at center-back. The 22-year-old Djiga, who is 6′ 3″,
is expected to be a great addition because he has become one of the finest players in the Serbian first division.
Wolves will be happy to escape a recurrence of the Kevin Danso story, as Tottenham Hotspur snatched the deal
just as they were about to sign the Austrian international defender from RC Lens. Even though a physical was
scheduled and a complete agreement was signed for Danso to join on loan, Spurs quickly jumped in to sign him.
Marshall Munetsi, a midfielder for Stade Reims, is another newcomer anticipated to walk through the doors of
Molineux on deadline day. A breakthrough has been struck in Wolves’ advanced negotiations to sign the
Zimbabwean from the French Ligue 1 team, according to reports that initially surfaced this morning.
According to Birmingham World, Reims and Wolves have reached an agreement on a price of about €20 million
(£17 million), which is comparable to what Wolves spent the same club for Agbadou earlier this month. At the age
of 28, Munetsi is in his prime and has made 23 appearances for the Zimbabwe national team in his career.
Munetsi, who has been a staple of Reims’ midfield for the past five seasons, was recently named the man of the
match in the 1-1 draw away at Paris Saint-Germain. Two years ago, he was a target for Brighton & Hove Albion.
Lemina nearing Wolves exit
Munetsi signing on the dotted line will allow Mario Lemina to depart the club. Reports in Turkey suggest a full
agreement has been reached for Lemina to complete a €3.5 million transfer to Galatasaray on deadline day,
putting an end to his nightmare final days at Molineux.
The Old Gold have been keen to move on Lemina throughout January following unprofessionalism and a lack of
commitment from the former captain. Lemina refused to play against Newcastle United two weeks ago after
requesting a transfer earlier in the month, before apologising to Pereira and his teammates.
In 77 appearances across all competitions, the 31-year-old scored six goals and provided five assists for Wolves.
Lemina has played for Wanderers more times than any other team during his career, and he had a great rapport
with the supporters, but those memories have now been marred.
Pereira has been reluctant to approve Lemina’s sale until a successor has been found, but if Munetsi’s presence is
confirmed, that problem will be resolved.
