Celtic’s long-term chase of Mathias Kvistgaarden appeared to have come to a stop, but on deadline day, new suspicion emerged after a private jet flying from Portugal to Glasgow caught the eye.
The Brøndby striker has been on the Hoops’ radar for months, but rumours over the weekend stated the Danish club were unwilling to deal with their frontman until a hefty offer—believed to be over £10 million—was made.
Brendan Rodgers revealed following Sunday’s triumph against Motherwell that any striker arrival would most likely be a loan deal rather than a permanent move due to the high fee.
However, like CeltsAreHere did when the Yogo transfer news emerged last week, we’ve been closely watching private flights into Glasgow. Brøndby is now on a warm-weather training camp in Portugal, which has sparked curiosity about a certain plane. Kvistgaarden could still be on that trip, albeit the chances are small.
At this point, there is no proof of anything solid, which could be nothing. The striker problem at Celtic Park remains unresolved, and the transfer window closes tonight. Any activity is worth watching.
It’s deadline day, and everything can change quickly. If there is a late twist in the Kvistgaarden drama, we will keep you posted.
UPDATE 8:40am: Journalist Farzam Abolhosseini describes the rumour as ‘Stupid’.
