According to Football Insider, Stoke City’s late approach for Manchester United’s youngster Ruben Curley was rejected.
Stoke City experienced another active transfer window following a managerial change. Mark Robins is now in command of SCFC, and while there is room to improve, he will primarily be responsible for working with what he has until the summer.
Leicester City sold Tom Cannon to Sheffield United after recalling him from his loan with the Potters.
As a result, an extra goal threat is desired at the Bet365 Stadium, although a midfielder move has been turned down.
According to Football Insider, Stoke City’s attempt to sign Manchester United youngster Ruben Curley was refused.
It is unclear whether the offer was temporary or permanent, but the Red Devils appear determined to keep the 19-year-old.
According to the article, midfielder Curley’s contract expires at the end of the season, but Manchester United have the option to prolong his stay. It remains to be seen whether SCFC will make another move as they attempt to acquire players late in the season.
More about Curley.
Curley, a Stoke City target, could be a future star, but it’s possible the Potters wanted to give him his first taste of professional football.
The adolescent has yet to make his senior debut, although he is a fixture at Manchester United’s academy, playing for the U18s and U21s. He has three goals and four assists in 37 appearances across both age categories while playing as a centre or attacking midfielder.
His contract situation makes him a more likely summer signing, although the kid may have been drawn to the opportunity at SCFC.
Midfield options
Stoke City has a strong midfield lineup, albeit not all players are currently available.
Wouter Burger, Ben Pearson, Lewis Baker, Jordan Thompson, Tatsuki Seko, and Sol Side are all on the roster, while Andy Moran has previously played a deeper part. Junior Tchamadeu has previously played in the midfield, but it is not his best or favoured position.
Adding Curley to the mix would have been a fascinating turn on deadline day, but it appears Manchester United are unwilling to let him leave at this time.
