3 Rocco Vata alternatives Watford should consider amid links to Celtic winger
Watford are interested in Celtic winger Rocco Vata, according to The Athletic’s live trade blog (06.03.24, 14:00).
Watford have been linked with a move for the teenager this summer.
Vata, 18, has been playing for Celtic’s B team in the Scottish Lowland League for the last two seasons.
Here are three possibilities for the Hornets to explore if they can’t acquire him.
Kwame Poku
The once-capped Ghana international has been an important player for Peterborough United in League One in recent years. At the age of 22, he could benefit from moving up a division in the upcoming transfer window.
This season, he has made 38 appearances across all competitions for the Posh, scoring 11 goals and assisting nine times. The ex-Colchester United player would be great for Watford, adding additional competition to their offensive department if they took a chance on him.
Karamoko Dembele
He played for Vata’s current side Celtic from 2013 until 2022, rising through the Glasgow giants’ academy systems. At 21, he is on loan at Blackpool in the third division from Stade Brestois in France and has captured the attention at Bloomfield Road.
Although he is still raw, he might have a promising future if the Hornets sign him. This season, the Londoner has scored seven goals for the Tangerines and provided 12 assists.
Tyler Goodrham
The 20-year-old has appeared in 41 appearances for Oxford United this season, scoring 10 goals and assisting four. He is under contract at the Kassam Stadium until the summer of 2027, with the U’s option to extend his stay for an additional 12 months.
Goodrham, who hails from High Wycombe, has been a vital first-team player with his present side over the past couple of years and could be worth a look for Watford in the Championship.
