Holding back is no longer an option as the SFA Battles Celtic…

Brendan Rodgers risks Rangers dugout ban as Celtic boss charged by SFA.

The SFA has cited the Hoops manager for his scathing attack on Don Robertson and John Beaton.

The SFA has charged Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for his scathing attack on officials following Sunday’s contentious defeat at Tynecastle.

Rodgers unleashed an uncommon rage, accusing VAR referee John Beaton and on-field whistler Don Robertson of costing his team the match. Celts were stunned when Yang’s original booking for a high boot was upgraded to a red after a VAR intervention. Hearts were then given an easy penalty after Tomoki Iwata was severely penalized for a handball.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Scottish champions, who squandered the opportunity to go top of the table following Rangers’ shock defeat to Motherwell the day before. The Parkhead side wrote to the SFA to raise “serious concerns” over the use of VAR during the game, but they lost their appeal to overturn Yang’s red card yesterday.

Rodgers is now in deep water with the SFA and has been summoned to a hearing on Thursday, March 28 for violating disciplinary rule 72, which prohibits criticism “to indicate bias or incompetence on the part of such match official” or “make remarks about” match officials that “impinge on his character”.

It means Rodgers could face a minimum two-game suspension, with him in the stands for Premiership away games against Livingston on March 31 and a potentially title-deciding trip to Rangers the following week.
