Leeds United get fresh big backing with new boost expected in club’s promotion quest

Daniel Farke’s Whites are anticipated to improve much further.

Leeds United will travel to Coventry City on Wednesday night with new, strong support and another boost in their

Championship promotion campaign.

After Saturday’s results, Daniel Farke’s table-topping Whites have a five-point lead in the division’s automatic

promotion slots, moving them back to third-place Burnley, and they have a significantly improved goal differential.

Farke’s team crushed Cardiff City 7-0 at Elland Road to increase their goal differential to plus 41, a significant + 16

ahead of Burnley’s, after Burnley was restricted to a goalless draw at Portsmouth.

Due to their FA Cup involvement, Leeds now face a quick return to league action with Wednesday night’s clash at an

11th-placed Coventry side who have won four games in a row under boss Frank Lampard.

However, the bookmakers have increased their support for Farke’s Whites, who are heavy favourites to win three

more points from their midweek match at the CBS Arena.

Coventry can be backed at 16-5 to defeat Leeds, who are the clear favourite with all bookmakers, despite home

advantage and their previous performance.

The draw is as large as 14-5, while Farke’s team is no bigger than 10-11 but as short as 7-10 with some firms.

Burnley, who are still in the FA Cup, will host Oxford United on Tuesday night. The bookmakers confidently predict

a Clarets triumph despite their string of goalless draws; Scott Parker’s team is as short as 4-11 with some firms, but

no greater than 1-2.

Before United’s Wednesday night match against Coventry, which would serve as a Whites game in hand, a Burnley

victory would cut the Leeds lead to two points.

Sheffield United are already out of the FA Cup and take in their next league game on Saturday afternoon at home to

Portsmouth. Leeds host Millwall in the FA Cup fourth round the same day.
