“We’ll just keep it that way” | Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers addresses West Ham links

With Julen Lopetegui under pressure at West Ham United, many have asked for alternative candidates to replace the 58-year-old Spaniard.

West Ham have struggled this season under Lopetegui, who left Wolverhampton Wanderers abruptly in 2023, raising many questions about his future in the Premier League.

West Ham are presently 14th in the Premier League table, with three victories from 11 games, ahead of their crucial match at Newcastle this evening.

As the present West Ham manager faces the possibility of losing his job, there are legitimate links to Celtic coach and former Liverpool and Leicester City manager Brendan Rogers, who has spoken to the media about his interest in the east London club.

Rodgers’ comments to 67 Hail Hail indicate that he will not be leaving Scottish powerhouse club Celtic any time soon.

“What did I say on my first day here?” Three years, unless I am bumped earlier! Listen, I said I’d be here three years. At the end of three years, I will have been a Celtic manager for approximately six years, which is a long period. I haven’t truly considered it.

Rodgers has a history of departing Celtic in the middle of a season, most recently taking over at Leicester City in the 2018-19 season. But this time, Rodgers says leaving Celtic during the 2024 season is not an option.

“For over a year, there were definitely more individuals who wanted me out than in, therefore I won’t be discussing new contracts right now! I just need to keep working hard and doing my best for the club, and I’m confident that at some point next season, we’ll be able to assess our progress and go forward from there.

“But right now, I’m enjoying my life here; it’s a fantastic club to work for. Surprisingly, going away and returning has made things even better for me because I realized what I missed while I was away. I’m not in a haste to leave again. It’s a terrific place to be, and I enjoy working with the players.

The 51-year-old does not take any managerial position for granted, and he expresses gratitude for his current position at Celtic.

“They say that the most valuable currency you have in life is time. As you get older than 51, you realize this. Spend time with the individuals you care about, including your family and coworkers. I’d have to agree with that. I’m in a great spot right now, so let’s maintain it that way.

For the time being, Rodgers is Celtic manager, and he is demonstrating his worth this season.
