Celtic exit nears as player completes medical ahead of £10m move.

This afternoon, Liel Abada’s tale at Celtic draws to a close as the Israeli winger completes his medical clearance to join MLS team Charlotte FC for £10 million.

We reported on Sunday that Abada was in negotiations with the US team in an attempt to quit Parkhead due to private, off-field concerns about his native country.

Yesterday, new information about the agreement surfaced, showing that Celtic was reportedly paying £8 million for the 22-year-old, with add-ons potentially pushing the price up to £11 million.

And it appears like Abada is getting closer to leaving Parkhead as the Celtic winger finishes his pre-move physical. Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports said as much this afternoon.

“UPDATE: Celtic winger Liel Abada has completed a medical ahead of his proposed £10 million move to Charlotte FC,” Joesph wrote on social media channel X.

With this move, months of nonstop rumors around the treble-winning winger come to an end. Abada is hoping to revive his career after recovering from a devastating injury in December of last year.

Abada’s well-known off-field problems have contributed to his exclusion from the team; according to Brendan Rodgers, the teenage winger wasn’t in the appropriate frame of mind to participate in any of Celtic’s recent encounters.

Regardless of perspective, this is a setback for Rodgers. Abada was essential to Celtic’s victories under Ange Postecoglou, and based on his play during the preseason tour of Japan, it appeared like the 22-year-old would continue to flourish under Rodgers.

That was put to rest by an accident he received while serving abroad, keeping Abada sidelined for four months.

The Israeli winger, who is now fully fit, is headed to the United States and is expecting to help spark his faltering career by continuing where he left off with Celtic the previous campaign.
