Cyriel Dessers discloses the true reason he signed with the Rangers and selects the most “beautiful moment” of his career to date.

The 29-year-old Nigerian striker, who was born in Belgium, has had a roller coaster of a debut season at Rangers, coming and going.

Following a terrible start to the season, the striker has started to settle in; 13 of his 16 goals this season have come since Philippe Clement was hired.

One of those was a magnificent goal in the team’s dominant 3-2 victory over Real Betis on the road. Cyriel Dessers has been in contact with FIFA ahead of the Europa League matchup with Benfica.

“Beautiful” Cyriel Dessers being admitted to UEFA

The brief interview clip mentions Cyriel Dessers’s journey with Feyenoord to the Europa Conference League Final in the 21/22 season.

Even though Rangers advanced to the Europa League Final that season, they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville on penalties due to a lack of striker options.

However, despite Cyriel Dessers finishing as the tournament’s leading scorer with ten goals, AS Roma defeated Feyenoord and Cyriel Dessers in Tirana.

Cyriel Dessers called a semi-final double against Ligue 1 powerhouse Marseille the most “beautiful game” of his career to date in an interview with UEFA regarding that run.

“My two goals in the home leg of the Europa Conference League semi-final against Marseille,” Dessers recalled.

“This was perhaps the most beautiful game of my career to date, as those were the goals that led us to the championship,” the player said in retrospect.

“The globe is full of talented football players, but how many of them can claim to have participated in a European Final?

“Those are the things I need to cherish and that make me very proud, and I became the top scorer as well.”

The striker explains in an interview why he joined the Rangers.

Although Cyriel Dessers’s European adventures undoubtedly contributed to Rangers’ decision to pursue the forward, the striker himself needed persuasion to move to Ibrox.

Relegated Serie A team Cremonese offered Dessers a reputed £4.5 million agreement to join the Gers in the summer. Dessers stated he was motivated to “build something beautiful” when he joined the team.

“I was overjoyed to sign here,” Dessers stated. “With the desire to construct a stunning structure.

“This season, we had a tremendously tough start, but as you can see, we’ve improved in the last several months.

“Then, when this team is playing at its peak, you can truly appreciate how large and incredible Rangers is.” It’s astounding.

Following his numerous missed opportunities during the Scottish Premiership loss to Motherwell over the weekend, the large striker has drawn some serious criticism.

It will be up to Cyriel Dessers to keep the Ibrox team’s strong recent Europa League record going in Lisbon this week, as Rangers’ injury list seems to be growing by the minute.

Rangers legends are formed on evenings like these, so let’s hope the big guy can fulfil his goals and lead us to victory in Europe.

After a domestic treble-winning season, a Europa League Final in Dublin? That is about as gorgeous as it gets.
