Player ‘wants to leave’ Aston Villa – Keen on walking out next month, agent ties key

We announced four days ago that AC Milan was reportedly eyeing Clément Lenglet of Aston Villa. The news came from Italy.

Il Mattino announced on Monday that Napoli has entered the running to sign the defender, who is currently on loan from Barcelona at Aston Villa. Calciomercato relays this information and goes on to detail Milan’s intentions to sign the 28-year-old.

Jakub Kiwior has been coveted by Stefano Pioli’s team, but according to the most recent reports in the Italian media, there is “no possibility” that the Pole will leave Arsenal.

Taking this situation into account, the report says the Rossoneri have shifted their focus to the Frenchman. Unai Emery has only used him in the UEFA Europe Conference League this season and the player ‘wants to leave’ Aston Villa in the winter market.

Calciomercato add that the centre-back will ‘almost certainly’ return to Barca and is expected to leave again in January. Milan want to ‘make an attempt’ to sign him on a loan deal with an option to buy. He earns €6m per year and that’s an ‘obstacle’ for the San Siro club.

Wasserman is the player’s manager at Aston Villa, and the agency enjoys a cordial relationship with the Italian team. This “may favour the success of the operation” to bring Lenglet to the San Siro, according to the outlet.

Milan appears to have gotten in touch with his agents in an attempt to reach a new settlement and persuade Barca to cover a portion of his compensation.

Lenglet has expressed his desire to leave the Villans, and it would be interesting to hear Unai Emery and Aston Villa director Monchi discuss his possible departure in the upcoming month.
