Everton prepare to lose first-team star in summer transfer window amid fresh twist

Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton has been closely associated with Tottenham Hotspur in recent months.

For example, the Daily Mail said in February that the Toffees defender is being pursued by Arsenal and Spurs.

The report claims that Tottenham is putting further pressure on the Gunners to negotiate a deal for Branthwaite.

The Mirror has now seemingly given Spurs and other teams a boost in their pursuit of the 21-year-old centre back.

Everton “are preparing to lose” Branthwaite during the summer transfer window, according to the tabloid.

In fact, they are reportedly keeping an eye on Jacob Greaves of Hull City as a possible replacement.

Jarrad Branthwaite, a target for Tottenham, is a “superstar.”

Even though Tottenham has strengthened their defence considerably this season, Branthwaite would be a fantastic acquisition.

The 21-year-old appears to have the makings of the next defensive superstar in the Premier League. He appears to be a step ahead of the English elite at such a young age.

In addition to his 43 Toffees games, Branthwaite earned six caps for the England Under-21 team.

Jamie Carragher talked about Branthwaite’s progress at Goodison Park just last week.

He declared, “This guy is a superstar” during Monday Night Football.

“A center-back can play with both feet, so it’s impressive that he controlled that with his right foot as a two-footed player, and his finishing with his left just goes to show how good Everton is from set pieces.”

Sadly, but not unexpectedly, Branthwaite won’t be cheap for teams like Tottenham. Given that his contract expires in 2027, the selling club will have significant negotiating leverage.

Spurs will have to really consider which parts of their team require the greatest strengthening in the summer after hearing rumours of a reported £75 million transfer fee in recent weeks.
