Sheffield United is considering a transfer for a former Tottenham Hotspur player after QPR rejected Jimmy Dunne’s proposal.
The Star knows that if Sheffield United are unable to complete a move for Jimmy Dunne of QPR, they may look elsewhere in their pursuit of defensive recruits. Prior to Monday’s transfer deadline, Dunne was the Blades’ top center-half target; however, the Londoners recently rejected an offer for him.

After losing Harry Souttar, a loanee from Leicester City, to a season-ending Achilles’ injury, United is eager for center-half reinforcements, and Dunne has not committed to a new deal at Loftus Road, which expires in the summer. Before the window opened, Dunne’s name was on a lengthy list of possible targets that also included Luke Woolfenden of Ipswich Town and Harry Darling of Swansea City.

However, United will not be trapped in the transfer market, and they will look for other targets if they are unable to reach an agreement for Dunne.

The Star knows that Japhet Tanganga of Millwall is a name the Blades may pursue. The former England U21 player is experiencing a renaissance after joining The Den from Tottenham Hotspur.

While acknowledging that a bid had been made for a defensive target earlier this week, manager Chris Wilder also stated: “There are other players on that list and we’re working tirelessly.” And we’ll keep doing it till the window closes. Without a doubt, a couple will become accessible over the weekend, since that is always the case. As we’ve seen in the window and here before.

We’re willing to conduct business, but if it’s not a long-term commitment and it doesn’t work out, or if it’s too costly, the pay is too high, or the selling club fee is too high and out of proportion to our valuation, we’ll walk away and try again. However, losing Souttar was a devastating blow to us, and we most definitely need someone in that role to cover the void.
