Yang’s red card that was given to him at Tynecastle on Sunday.
John Beaton overruled Don Robertson’s on-field decision via VAR, resulting in the South Korean receiving a straight red card.
The club has every right to appeal the verdict because it was highly “debatable,” but I believe it will be in vain because it cannot be reversed. That I’m fairly certain of—though I’d be delighted to be shown mistaken—but I don’t see it.
Following the 16-minute decision, Tomoki Iwata, who was facing the other direction and was bumped in the back while diving for the ball, was given a
penalty by an unprofessional referee. Once more, Beaton gave Robertson the order to glance at the monitor before awarding Hearts the spot kick.
Regarding the criticism of the match officials’ “incompetence,” well, it is very welcome, and we are all un agreement with them on this point.
This season, Celtic allegedly wrote to the SFA several times to ask for clarification on certain calls, but they chose to make this public.
The choice was strange, as evidenced by the club’s desire to point out the “wrongdoing” the team had experienced at the hands of referees and VAR. Even though it’s a little late in the day, it’s still better than never, I suppose.
Because of our shortcomings on Sunday, some people may view it as a “squirrel,” but the vast majority of us are mature enough to accept responsibility for our errors. We acknowledge that we weren’t good enough that day, but neither were the match officials.
They ought to acknowledge their shortcomings if we are able to do so. They must all be made to answer for their mistakes. Even if it won’t affect the game’s outcome, it will at least explain why they made such a significant error in judgment.
