Burnley fans send message to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as Wrexham confirm Jay Rodriguez signing

Wrexham have completed the signing of Jay Rodriguez, and Burnley fans have now messaged Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Following their 3-2 setback to Stevenage earlier this week, the Red Dragons have clearly been working hard behind the scenes.

Wrexham switched their focus to two more forwards after deciding against a move for Michael Smith.

First, after only being connected on Thursday, Sam Smith joined the Red Dragons from Reading in a club-record move.

Just seconds later, fans received more good news when Wrexham were connected with Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was formally revealed as the Welsh club’s third signing of the January transfer window, almost as soon as he was linked.

Burnley fans sent messages to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney after Wrexham signed Jay Rodriguez.

Rodriguez made 310 senior appearances for the Clarets during two periods, scoring 76 and assisting 24. Burnley fans have flocked to social media to respond to the news, with numerous tweeting messages to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as the club completed its relocation from Turf Moor.

One fan wrote: Look after him @VancityReynolds and @RMcElhenney he’s Burnley royalty.”

A second echoed: “Take good care of him, he’s one of our own. A damn good man and player. Wishing you all the best. @JayRodriguez9 (I’ll have to come catch a match soon @RMcElhenney @VancityReynold)

Another Burnley fan wrote: “He’s one of our own and always will be. A fantastic footballer and good guy. We @BurnleyOfficial were privileged to have him in our team. Good luck to you @JayRodriguez9 at your new club, hope all goes well for you. You’ll always be a Claret.”

A fourth wrote: “Take good care of him for us, he’ll be missed! Good luck Jay!”

“Take care of our boy!! All the best Jay,” a fifth Clarets fan stated.

While a sixth added: “Look after him has never been more true! He’s one of our own! Smash it Jay!”

Jay Rodriguez’s First Words as a Wrexham Player

Rodriguez is now 35 years old, and, perhaps surprisingly, Wrexham have signed him to a deal that will last until the end of the 2025/26 season.

He joins a lengthy list of aged forwards at the club, but if he can produce moments like another former Premier League forward, Steven Fletcher, it will not matter this season.

Rodriguez has spoken out for the first time since signing on the club’s official website. He said, “I’m prepared to join the club.

I’m excited to get out on the training pitch and meet everyone.

“I intend to use my knowledge to aid each and every player in the squad while also learning from the group.

“To join the story that has evolved at Wrexham with clear targets is exciting for me.”
