Man, 22, arrested after girl, 8, seriously hurt in car shooting

An eight-year-old child was ‘caught in the crossfire’ during a shooting in west London Friday night, according to witnesses.

Police and emergency services were dispatched to Southern Row, located between Ladbroke Grove and Maida Vale, yesterday afternoon.

Police have said that a 22-year-old male has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder.

Witnesses saw a gunman fire four rounds and a mother yell, ‘My baby, my baby’s been shot’.

A witness told how a gunman fired at point blank range into a parked automobile during the ‘attempted hit.’

The woman, Sharon, told Metro: ‘I came out and saw a man pointing a gun at a car. I noticed flashes from the gun.

‘He was really close to the driver’s side window.’

An eight-year-old child was caught in the crossfire of a shooting in Ladbroke Grove, West London, as a gunman targeted a residential property on Sunday evening. Armed officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to the scene at around 6 PM following reports of gunfire. She claimed the gun was a pistol.

She went on to say, “It appeared to be an intended targeted attack.” A woman got out of the car and was carrying a toddler who was wailing. I ran inside my block; it was terrible.

A 34-year-old guy and a schoolgirl were both injured. A 32-year-old lady was also transported to the hospital as a precaution, although she was not harmed.

A 64-year-old witness told Metro that they heard bullets and heard a mother shouting, “My baby, my baby has been shot.” It makes me sick just thinking about it now.

 

‘There were four or five shots, there was screaming it’s horrible. A neighbour went out with a duvet to cover the injured.

Father of five Ali Hussien, 52, an Uber driver told Metro: ‘I heard four or five bangs I thought it was fireworks.

‘There were suddenly police everywhere. Now I know it was a shooting it’s very scary.

‘Especially as I have children. I have a daughter, 9, so I fear for my children. The police do their best but there is a lot of crime.’

Another witness said: ‘There were about five loud bangs.’

A retail worker, 34, said: ‘I heard boom, boom, boom, boom.

‘There was a gap between the shots then I heard a scream, it sounded like from a child.

‘It was a desperate cry, and it was a very scary. It could only have been.’

A neighbour spoke of his shock that the ‘down to earth family’ had been targeted.

The 32-year-old stated: ‘They are a great, down-to-earth family. There is a mother, father, and four children. There are two bits and two girls, I believe.

‘They appear to be lovely neighbours; I spoke with the bloke several times. They’ve lived here for a long time.

‘The only weird thing is that the father went absent for a few months and we didn’t see him at all. I observed their automobile with its windows blown out. It’s really shocking.

One man told Metro: “A man and a child were in a car, and it appears that it was a targeted attack.”

‘I believe they were attempting to apprehend the man, and the youngster was caught up in the process.

‘The neighbours came out to try and help them both.’

Superintendent Owen Renowden, in charge of policing in Kensington and Chelsea, stated: “This is an appalling incident that has left two people seriously injured, including a young girl who is thankfully in a stable condition this morning.”

‘I’m appealing to anyone who may have been in the neighborhood at the time of the shooting.

‘Did you hear any gunshots about 17:30 hours yesterday evening? Have you seen anyone fleeing the area? We are eager to hear from anyone who may have information about this occurrence. Your information matters, no matter how trivial you believe it is.

We are awaiting an update on the man’s condition. We are also waiting for an update on the girl, but her injuries are not life-threatening.
