Additionally, Dom Hyam nullified Marcelino Nunez’s opening goal at Ewood Park last season, thus there was
nothing between the teams.
Sam Szmodics scored two goals in November 2023 to give Rovers their most recent victory in the match. Scott
Wharton was sent off in the second half, and Tyrhys Dolan also scored in Norfolk.
Meanwhile, the FA have confirmed that John Eustace has been fined £4,000 and warned for “misconduct” for
comments made after Rovers’ 1-1 draw at Leeds United.
Danny Batth’s late equaliser earned a point at Elland Road on New Year’s Day after Pascal Struijk had put the
hosts in front from the penalty spot.
It was a controversial decision, with Dom Hyam judged to have brought down Mateo Joseph in the box by referee
Olive Langford.
After the final whistle, Eustace labelled the decision as ‘soft’ and argued that Rovers would not have been given the
decision at the other end.
According to a statement: “John Eustace has been warned and fined £4,000 for misconduct related to media
remarks made after Wednesday, January 1’s EFL Championship game between Leeds United and Blackburn
Rovers.
During post-match interviews, the head coach was accused of acting improperly by making remarks that implied
bias, called into question the impartiality of a match official, or were not in the best interests of the game.
John Eustace acknowledged the accusation made against him. After a hearing, an impartial Regulatory
Commission issued his punishment.
