‘I have to admit’ – BBC journalist shares latest update on 777 Everton takeover

The complete takeover of Everton is hardly progressing and the Premier League are yet to come to a decision.

Journalist Simon Stone of BBC Sport claims that Josh Wander attended the FT Business of Football event on Thursday but showed no interest in discussing the topic.

Although they anticipate hearing from the Premier League this month, it has been claimed elsewhere that the 777 Partners are currently becoming “frustrated” with the delay.

There have been rumours that the Premier League was unable to move on earlier because they were handling Everton’s appeal over point deduction, but now that the matter has been resolved, they may move on to other concerns pertaining to the Toffees.

The prospective new owners and Farhad Moshiri inked a new agreement back in September, and they ought to have gotten the confirmation by now. On the other hand, on December 24, Sir Jim Ratcliffe declared that he had reached a deal with Manchester United and that he already had his consent.

“I must say, everything has become really quiet. I tried to speak with Josh Wander during the FT Business of Football meeting on Thursday, but he wasn’t too eager in talking,” Stone stated on BBC Sport.

He is waiting for the Premier League to make a decision just like everyone else. It’s nearly been forgotten that the agreement with Farhad Moshiri was made in September.

Frustration grows on and off the pitch

Everton already knows exactly how the second hearing on their PSR rule violation will proceed, even if it is still imminent.

Both on and off the pitch, the fans’ dissatisfaction is growing. In 2024, the Toffees have lost points at home and have not won a single game in the Premier League.

They were defeated 3-1 by West Ham last week. Both the performance and, most crucially, the outcomes must improve.

Although Sean Dyche has done a fantastic job of motivating his players, it appears he is currently at a loss for ideas.

Fans will be hoping Dyche can turn things around, while the prospective new owners will be hoping for a favourable response from the Premier League this month.
