‘OH WHY!! Struggling Sunderland ‘close to turning a corner,’ says Mike Dodds

Although he does not want to “spin positives,” interim head coach Mike Dodds acknowledges that there were some despite the team’s fourth straight loss.
Despite suffering their fourth straight loss in the Championship, Mike Dodds believes there are indications that Sunderland is “close to turning a corner.”

The last vestiges of a promotion challenge were dashed when the Black Cats lost 1-0 at Norwich.

Once more, Sunderland’s offensive play proved to be ineffective, but Dodds is adamant that he is seeing enough to give supporters hope for an impending improvement in the standings.

“The most important thing is that we lost the game, so I won’t sit here and spin positives, but what pleased me was that

We entered the appropriate regions,” Dodds remarked.

“We have higher talent in the final third than what we displayed today, but I thought we entered the final third pretty well and the players did a great job of doing what we wanted of them.

“To be absolutely honest, we haven’t found it simple to put the ball in the back of the net this season. That is the next step in the process.

“I think you have to give Norwich credit for how effectively they defended their box today, but right now I think we’re just a little bit inconsistent, maybe a little bit tight in certain areas.

However, I have complete faith in the players and their abilities, and their want to go better gives me a strong belief that a change in direction is imminent.”
