Stoke City backed to sign “big, physical” star from Liverpool before Feb 3rd

It has been suggested that Stoke City should recruit Jayden Danns, a young player from Liverpool, before the winter

transfer window closes. Mark Robins still needs more attacking alternatives to offer the Potters the best chance of

surviving the Championship this season.

In terms of transfers, Stoke has had a slow month. They have only signed two loanees so far, Ali Al-Hamadi from

Ipswich Town and Josh Wilson-Esbrand from Manchester City.

The Potters are now in the throes of a relegation battle in 20th position and are the lowest scorers in the

Championship, so it is obvious that they need attacking reinforcements. As the deadline draws nearer, boss Robins

will undoubtedly want to add players to his side.

While Nathan Lowe was also recalled by the team from Walsall, he is only 19 years old and might not be able to make

as much of an impact in second-tier games as he did in League Two. Al-Hamadi may have already arrived from the

Tractor Boys, but there is no assurance that he will be able to duplicate the form of top scorer Tom Cannon, who was

recently recalled by Leicester City.

It is not surprising that Stoke is pursuing Danns’ services to bolster their deficient attack, as fellow forward Niall

Ennis has been linked to leaving FLW this month, Emre Tezgel is out of favour, and Sam Gallagher has had ongoing

injury problems. The club has now been instructed to get a move over the line to

Fan pundit urges Stoke to prioritise Jayden Danns signing over other positions

Danns, 19, has already experienced first-team football at Liverpool, where he has made appearances under both

Jürgen Klopp and Arne Slot. In eight senior games in league and cup competitions, he has scored three goals thus

far.

His potential as a Championship asset has apparently alerted many second-tier clubs to his availability on loan;

Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle were previously linked, Stoke has been frequently mentioned in the competition

for his services alongside Derby County and Millwall, and Hull City, Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, and

Oxford United have all expressed interest.

Although there is obviously competition to sign him before the January transfer window closes, TEAMtalk’s Fraser

Fletcher has stated that Stoke is in a strong negotiating position after speaking with the Reds for several weeks, and

Danns is amenable to a move to the Potteries.

Our Potters fan analyst, Daniel Buxton, has urged Stoke to finalise a deal for Danns and feels that a signing like the

Liverpool youngster should take precedence over a prospective defensive or midfield addition, especially as a loan

switch is imminent before Monday’s deadline. To be fair, Daniel warned FLW that a lack of firepower will be the

biggest expense for us this season.

We have four clean sheets in our previous seven games, so even though our defence isn’t very strong right now, it is a

little more stable, and I believe Mark Robins has strengthened them far more than Pelach did.

We are able to proceed with that. Although we are the Championship’s lowest scorers at the opposite end of the field,

defence is an area that may use some work.

When he does play, Sam Gallagher makes a huge difference, but his injury is permanent.

After suffering an injury during a preseason friendly, he returned to play a few games before suffering another injury.

He then returned, made a few substitute appearances, made his first start, and was sidelined once again before

suffering another injury that has prevented him from playing since.

At this point, we kind of need to push him aside. Due to Million Manhoef’s injury that will keep him out until Easter,

Lewis Koumas is currently the sole right-wing option, and Niall Ennis appears likely to depart.

That leaves us with two 19-year-olds, Emre Tezgel and Nathan Lowe, as well as Ali Al-Hamadi, who hasn’t played yet

and has clearly only joined the team from Ipswich.
