Wolves Make Approach to Sign £160k-a-Week Forward in January Move

According to reports in Portugal, Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an inquiry on Besiktas winger Rafa Silva before to the February 3 transfer deadline.

The 31-year-old, who has been a vital member of the Turkish team this season, scoring 10 goals and dishing out seven assists in 31 games, is apparently of interest to the Molineux team.

After joining Besiktas on a free transfer in July, Silva inked a three-year contract. Since taking over earlier this month, new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has kept Silva in the starting lineup.

In his first two games under Solskjaer, the Portuguese international has contributed four goals, including two in the decisive 4-1 Europa League victory over Athletic Bilbao.

As second signing under Pereira

Wolves have endured a quiet January transfer window after replacing Gary O’Neil with Vitor Pereira last month, with defender Emmanuel Agbadou their only signing so far.

The Molineux outfit are expected to be active in the final days of the window and are reportedly targeting further defensive reinforcements.

According to recent reports, Wolves are set to make another bid for Lens defender Kevin Danso and remain locked in negotiations for the Austrian’s arrival before the deadline.

Besiktas signed Rafa just six months ago, so they should be in a great negotiating position if they do decide to pursue their alleged interest in the 31-year-old.

Rafa played for Benfica, Braga, and Feirense during his whole professional career in Portugal prior to moving to Turkey.

Although he has largely played as a second striker this season, the 25-cap Portugal international, who makes £160,000 a week, would offer versatility to Wolves by playing a variety of upfront positions.

Following their loss to Arsenal last weekend, Wolves dropped to 17th place in the Premier League standings and have lost their previous five games.
