Malik Tillman blown away by Celtic vs Rangers clashes as he makes PSV-Feyenoord admission.

During his one season in Glasgow, the midfielder managed to play in five derby matches.

During his brief stint at Rangers, Malik Tillman recalls being captivated by Old Firm rivalries.

During the 2022/23 season on loan at Ibrox, the 21-year-old midfielder faced Celtic five times in league and cup competitions, including a Viaplay Cup final and Scottish Cup semi-final. The Bayern loanee and his team were never successful that season, but he was nonetheless swept away by the event and atmosphere.

He is now playing in derbies against Feyenoord for PSV, where he is still on loan from the German giants but is expected to make the move permanent. However, he thinks that the famed Glasgow duel is “on another level” and has described what it’s like to play there, notably the unusual feature of no away fans.

“I recall a lot of stress. Unfortunately, we did not win one while I played for the Rangers, but it was a fantastic experience.

“After the first match against Celtic, away fans were no longer permitted.” Then you played in a stadium that was entirely against you. If you scored, nobody cheered.

“The games were crazy, something utterly different. PSV competes with Feyenoord, but the competition in Glasgow is on a different level.

“It’s about different things too because when the supporters of the two clubs fight with each other, then it also concerns matters like religion for example.”
