Breaking: Everton to offer Dele Alli new deal

The “clause” that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur negotiate will determine Dele Alli’s future there.

The Sun claims that Tottenham’s fan favourite Deli Alli may begin a new chapter of his life at Everton. In January 2022, the former England and Spurs player signed a two-and-a-half-year contract to move to Goodison Park. According to the media outlet, Everton did not pay Tottenham any money up front.

But a condition was introduced that said the Merseysiders would have to pay a £10 million bonus payment to Alli once he played 20 games for the Toffees. He has so far made appearances for them in 13 Premier League games. Considering Everton’s current financial circumstances, the fee appears excessive.

On November 3, 2023, The Sun published an article detailing Sean Dyche’s disclosures regarding Everton’s endeavour to negotiate the clause. While on loan from Everton, Dele Alli last appeared on the pitch for Besiktas in February of 2023. His season was cut short by a strained muscle. To tend to his wounds, he went back to Everton.

Although the 27-year-old hasn’t yet established himself in Sean Dyche’s starting lineup, Everton is eager to assist the former Tottenham player in rekindling his career. Seemingly, everything hinges on the agreement reached with the Lilywhites.

The collapse of a megastar

At Tottenham, Alli was a revered figure. In 2015, he made his Tottenham debut, and he would play for the team until January 2022. In 2018, his form began to deteriorate. In 2019, Dele Alli was left off of the England roster. In the Third Place Play-Off of the UEFA Nations League Finals, he made his Three Lions debut.

Alli participated for the whole 120 minutes as England overcame Switzerland in extra time and on penalties. On January 9, 2022, he played his final match as a Tottenham player against Morecambe FC in the FA Cup Third Round. He was loaned to Besiktas in the window that followed his arrival at Everton at the deadline.
