Bruno Guimaraes move from Newcastle United ‘real possibility’ after behind-the-scenes PiF twist

Bruno Guimaraes move from Newcastle United ‘real possibility’ amid behind-the-scenes PiF twist.

Newcastle United could be forced to sell Bruno Guimaraes this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that there is a “real possibility” that the Brazilian could depart in the off-season.

This is owing to the release clause in his contract, the player’s own personal aspirations as well as the financial laws that Newcastle must traverse behind the scenes.

As stated by Football Insider (1 March), the club are hoping to add a centre-back, a central midfielder and a striker this summer.

However, it is understood that the Magpies could sanction more recruits on top of this three-man plan if Guimaraes is sold.

The 26-year-old has a £100million release clause in his contract that was introduced when he signed fresh terms in October last year.

He has been one of the club’s top players since signing from Ligue 1 heavyweights Lyon for a reported fee of £40million two years ago.

Since arriving to Tyneside, he has notched up 13 goals and 12 assists across 94 games in all competitions, including a match-winning brace against Nottingham Forest last month (10 February).

Eddie Howe’s side have already been eyeing up summer moves, with Football Insider revealing (19 February) that they and Tottenham are keeping tabs on Everton midfielder James Garner ahead of a potential summer move.

They could also launch a raid for Everton ace Amadou Onana, with Football Insider revealing (5 February) that they have produced a scouting dossier on the 22-year-old.
