Fire Breaks Out on Plane with 97 Passengers, Dozens Feared Dead in Devastating Crash

A massive fire broke out in the engine of a Russian airliner as it landed at Turkey’s Antalya Airport in poor weather circumstances. The event resulted in the evacuation of 79 passengers, with no casualties reported.

A storm disrupted the Sukhoi Superjet 100 operated by Azimuth Airlines, prompting the Turkish State Meteorological Service to issue an orange weather notice. The fire, which started in the engine shortly after landing, was promptly extinguished by firefighters.

The passengers were safely evacuated, and the plane was transferred to a parking position. Following the incident, air traffic at the airport resumed normal operations, however some planes were circling while awaiting landing.
