Norwich City Close to Signing Rising Star Linked to Chelsea and Liverpool

Alan Domeracki, a star for Dundee United, is expected to join Norwich City, according to the Pinkun and the Eastern Daily Press. The 18-year-old midfielder reportedly traveled to Norfolk and finished his medical exam without incident. After making an impression north of the border, Alan Domeracki will first play for the Canaries’ under-21 team.

Having featured twice for Dundee’s Under 20s in the Scottish Challenge Cup, the equivalent of the EFL trophy, and has been a key player in their academy for nearly nine years. At the age of 15 Domeracki was heavily linked with moves to Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea. A year later he signed a new two year contract with the Terror’s at aged 16.

This is the second time in six months that the Canaries will have signed a youngster from Dundee United after forward Brandon Forbes joined in the summer transfer window who has been a top performer for their under 21s since. He is now set to be joined by his countryman in Premier League 2.

Speaking about Domeracki’s abilities, United academy director Paul Cowie said: “He is a creative left-sided midfielder who has all the qualities to progress further in the game, having been in the academy for more than seven years.

“Patience has been the key in his recent development. Alan has the hunger and belief to work hard and exhaust all his opportunities both on and off the pitch, furthering his development.”

If their long-term targets become available, Norwich is open to adding players to the first team, but this doesn’t seem likely right now. This month, Norwich has already triggered the estimated £1.2 million option to purchase Anis Ben Slimane from Sheffield United, as well as signing wide players Matej Jurasek and Lewis Dobbin on loan.

“It is fair to say that we are still in the market,” Thorup told the reporters when asked about the team’s transfer activities after Saturday’s 5-1 victory against Swansea. There are still a few days left because it’s only the 25th.
