Dom Howson believes Daniel Farke will look to strengthen his Leeds United forward line during the January transfer window.
The Whites were linked with a plethora of attackers during the summer but failed to bring any high-profile names to Elland Road following the departures of Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville.
Leeds, however, did bring in winger duo Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon, but Farke has had to deal with periods without one or both of them due to spells on the sidelines.
Writing via LeedsLive on Thursday [13 November], Howson said: “Signing a new forward is likely to be at the top of Daniel Farke’s shopping list heading into the January transfer window.
“Leeds United, currently third in the Championship, were thwarted in their attempts to bring in a No 10 last summer.”
Leeds United to target new forward signing ahead of January window?
By no means have Leeds struggled in the final third, with only Sunderland notching more goals in the Championship, and the defensive third has been just as impressive.
With nine goals conceded in the league, only Sheffield United and Burnley have allowed fewer balls to hit the back of their nets, seeing Farke’s side move to third in the table.
However, Leeds will be keen to secure automatic promotion straight to the Premier League rather than fall into the play-offs once again, and a new forward signing could help make that happen.
Despite the goalscoring record and only two losses in 15 matches so far, Piroe is the current top scorer at Elland Road with six goals, a far cry from what the club had last season.
Summerville netted 19 times last season, with Dan James and Piroe following behind with 13 goals each, but there has not been a standout attacker so far, with everyone chipping in with important goals.
