Brenden Rice will have very big shoes to fill if he signs with the San Francisco 49ers.
At the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday, the Hall of Famer Jerry Rice’s son confirmed that he had a formal interview with his father’s former organisation.
When Brenden Rice met the 49ers, he said, “I was ecstatic.” “I just wanted to continue talking about how I could improve, how I could help the 49ers team, and just be a part of the place where my dad left his legacy.”
During his four seasons at USC and Colorado, Brenden Rice hauled in 111 passes for 1,821 yards and 21 scores. He caught 45 passes for little under 800 yards and 12 touchdowns during his final season as a Trojan.
Numerous sources predict that Brenden will be selected in the third round. His father won’t be his only tie to the 49ers if they utilise one of their two third-round selections on him. The younger Rice was raised in Chandler, Arizona, which also happens to be the hometown of 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Brenden also mentioned how they used to train out and compete together when they were youngsters.
He entered the competition. Regarding Purdy’s performance from the previous season, Brenden remarked, “That’s who he has always been.” “He has gone out and competed against anybody; regardless of the opportunity, he will take advantage of it, and that is the kind of person you want on your team.”
In San Francisco, what did Jerry Rice accomplish?
The former 49ers receiver has “virtually every significant receiving mark,” according to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A few of the more noteworthy career marks are total touchdowns (208), combined net yards (23,546), receiving yards (22,895 yards), most 1,000-yard receiving seasons (14), and receptions (1,549). Along with his three Super Bowl appearances with the 49ers, he was awarded MVP of Super Bowl XXIII.
