Oscar Cortes’s injury and the returning pair: “I’m not sure how long Oscar will be out.” We are investigating that with the physician and expert. That’s already a powerful thing because I’ve witnessed similar things at other clubs, not here. Second, he has improved on the pitch. Physically, technically, tactically, resilient in the ring, and passionate, he is on a higher level. He’s also quite well-liked in the changing area. The guys genuinely adore him. Over the past several months, he has integrated himself into the squad rather well. Six months ago, I don’t believe any of that was true. I don’t care how tall they are in centimetres because we need combatants, so props to him for that.
Regarding his team: “During our four months together, each member of the team has improved.” In all respects—technically and tactically as well as physically—so they know what to do. Therefore, it has been crucial that we work with everyone and continue to focus on everyone rather than just 11, 14, or 15 players.
Regarding the handball situations that occurred at Kilmarnock, I hope that future events will be more clearly defined. I am aware that some decisions are made that are unclear. The handball regulation hasn’t made things any simpler for referees or the VAR, in my opinion. The regulation and the manner in which UEFA and FIFA make their decisions have made it more challenging. Teaching my players what constitutes a hand ball is my responsibility. We have an issue if people enter the pitch believing there has been injustice. Although I don’t claim that to be true, it must be very apparent what constitutes handball and what does not. The way players are currently rushing around with their hands on their backs doesn’t seem like a smart idea for the game, in my opinion. Even yet, there are occasions when hand ball occurs when your hand is that way (out). Players who act like penguins while playing the game are not doing it well.
