Comparisons Drawn Between Celtic’s Dundee Win and Ange Postecoglou Era

There have been parallels made between Celtic’s 7-1 thrashing of Dundee on Wednesday night and the time under Ange Postecoglou’s management.

The supporters were entertained by the attacking, high-intensity game played during the midweek victory. The champions were demonstrating their power and sending a message to the rest of Scotland that they are still very much in the running for the championship.

Seven different players scored goals in a display that brought back memories of the two seasons under Australian manager Postecoglou. During his two years in Glasgow, the Spurs manager won five titles while bringing his team’s play off the sidelines.

The way Dundee got thrashed on Wednesday reminded me of this strategy. This was the way that Mark Wilson, a pundit currently, was formerly a right-back for Celtic.

When asked if the midweek victory made him think of the Postecoglou era, Wilson answered, “For me, it looked like that,” on Thursday’s Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

Every time a full-back received the ball, it was evident that the wingers would get it as soon as possible because of the manner the wingers maintained their width.

The midfielders were executing those elusive forward runs in between the center backs. Because everything happened so quickly, Dundee was unable to keep up.

“For the first forty-five minutes, they (Dundee) could not get close to a Celtic player.”

If Celtic can maintain their Wednesday night performance level between now until the They will be champions at the end of the season.

The Bhoys’ performance levels have changed significantly over the last hour and a half. Fans are not grumbling and are hoping that the positive performances continue, regardless of whether it is due to certain important players getting back into shape, minor tactical adjustments, or both
